In 2022, French cigar box and accessory manufacturer ST Dupont celebrated its 150th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the company collaborated with Habanos SA, a move it increasingly frequently makes. Most of the time, these collaborations follow a simple formula: ST Dupont creates special color schemes for its accessories, featuring popular Cuban cigar brands like Cohiba or Trinidad. But for ST Dupont's 150th anniversary, the collaboration went even deeper.
The two companies jointly created the Montecristo L'Esprit collection. Habanos SA provided a unique Montecristo cigar, found only in the L'Esprit humidor, while ST Dupont provided the humidor and accompanying lighters (plural), knives, ashtrays, cigar cases, pens, and cufflinks. The humidor comes in three different versions—Le Crépuscule, La Nuit, and L'Aurore—each designed for a different part of the night. While the cigars inside are the same, the designs of the humidors differ. The first version, Le Crépuscule, was released last December. The second version, La Nuit, will be released next week.
Each humidor contains 50 Montecristo L'Esprit cigars, an extra Robusto cigar measuring 5 7/10 inches (145 mm) x 50 mm. Habanos SA calls this Preciosos, but it's also used for the Partagás Maduro No. 1 cigar. Only 200 humidors will be produced worldwide.
The Montecristo L'Esprit series (of which these ornate humidors are part) is inspired by Alexandre Dumas' novel *The Count of Montecristo*, after which the famous Havana brand is named. Meanwhile, the French lighter and accessories company, which caters to discerning tobacco enthusiasts, is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
